Volunteers Needed!
Do you want to help the stamp become a reality instead of a long time effort that dates back to 1986?
Volunteer to help us convince the Postal Service that our coal miners, past and present, are as deserving of a postage stamp as any other subject. We also need to convince them the stamp should be approved and issued no later than 2003.
Take a look at the rest of the web site and you will see there is a lot of support for the stamp. How did this happen? People from the east coast to the west coast have used their keyboards for letters and email, or walked with paper petitions in hand to gain this support.
What can you do to help?
Become a member of the COALition. Help send out letters, emails, Letters to the Editor, and talk to people about the stamp and how long it has been since it was first requested. If you are comfortable talking to a reporter about coal mining in your area, let us know so we can use your name for a referral for interviews.
Become a Community Coordinator. You can help the stamp effort by becoming a volunteer on the state, county, city, or town level. You determine the size of the area that is comfortable for you. Some of our Coordinators are using paper petitions to get signatures, in addition to talking about the importance of the stamp.
You can also help by Writing letters to your Federal and State elected officials asking them to support the stamp. Click on Write Letters to help find the names of your elected officials and a sample letter.
